Mark Munoz will return to action at UFC on FUEL: Munoz vs. Weidman against prospecting Chris Weidman.
The card takes place July 11, just four short days after Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen compete for the UFC middleweight title.
Mike Roberts of MMA Inc., the manager for Munoz, feels the timing makes perfect sense for Munoz to move into the spot of No. 1 contender if he defeats Weidman.
“If, and when, Mark wins this fight, he has to be the No. 1 contender,” said Roberts, during a recent appearance on MMA Weekly Radio. “It makes the most sense, and they’re fighting four days apart. I think that speaks volumes.”
Nothing has been mentioned to Roberts about a possible title shot with a win, and seeing as the UFC has had to re-arrange several fights over the past few months due to injuries, it could just be a coincidence they are fighting so close.
