Well, not too many people defended Clay Guida’s style against Gray Maynard Friday night at UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida. “The Carpenter,” however, did.

“I felt good about my performance,” said Guida, during the post-fight press conference. “I think a little more movement and if I would’ve landed a few more strikes, I would’ve gotten the nod. We stuck to the game plan. We were unpredictable.”

Greg Jackson is the head trainer for Guida, and UFC president Dana White made sure that everyone knew how he felt regarding the fight via Twitter.

Maynard became very frustrated with the approach, taunting Guida and trying to entice him into a fight. After the bout, the two had some words while exiting the Octagon.

“He’s a big, heavy puncher,” Guida said. “The guy hits hard. The guy punches holes in walls for practice, I’m sure, and I didn’t want my head to be one of those.”
