Chael Sonnen knows how close he was to wearing the UFC middleweight title two years ago. Since that time, Sonnen has been on a quest to get a second chance at taking the strap from Anderson Silva.

July 7, from Las Vegas, Sonnen will get his redemption, as the two are set to collide in the main event of UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen 2 on pay-per-view.

“I don’t need anything in my life – but I have to have that belt,” said Sonnen, during a recent media conference call. “Everything I’ve done, everything I’ve worked for and sacrificed – everything I have in life – I would give it all away to be the UFC champion for just one night.”

Sonnen was leading “The Spider” on the scorecards heading into the fifth and final round. Silva, however, locked in a choke and forced Sonnen to tap, ending his dream.

“I got serious about this fight a long time ago,” Sonnen said. “I’ve been training for combat since I was nine years old. I can’t think of a day in my life when this wasn’t serious to me.”
