UFC middleweight and former PRIDE champion Wanderlei Silva is nearing a finish to his fighting career, UFC president Dana White recently told MMAjunkie.com.

Silva lost to Rich Franklin in his most recent encounter inside the Octagon, dropping a decision in his native country of Brazil. “The Axe Murderer” is just 3-7 since 2006 with four knockout defeats handed to him.

Wanderlei is a guy, yeah, I want to talk to. He looked good in that fight. He almost won, and it’s not like he got knocked out. And Rich Franklin can crack (guys). He just knocked Chuck (Liddell) out.

White added that Silva is likely done in terms of fighting in the UFC, saying “I think Wanderlei is coming to the end. I think he knows that, too. There’s nothing wrong with that. We all get old. I’m not saying he needs to retire, but he’s getting close.”

Silva sports a career record of 34-12-1 in his long career.
