Forrest Griffin has risen to the ranks of being a UFC light heavyweight champion.

Now, Griffin is set to face Tito Ortiz in the final fight for Ortiz.

The two will be the co-main event Saturday night for UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen 2. The card goes down on pay-per-view from Las Vegas.

Griffin was asked during the pre-fight press conference Thursday about a previous comment he made concerning his retirement.

“I like training camps,” Griffin said. “You’ve got to get out of bed and do something, and wrestling around with dudes is what I want to do.”

Griffin had remarked he would, “retire from life,” if he lost to Ortiz. He said that comment was made because the fight with Ortiz sparked him.

“This is the closest I’ll ever come to being a hero,” Griffin said.

The two have split their previous encounters, with each picking up a decision victory. Both were razor-thin, which Griffin feels is the reason Ortiz asked for the fight.
