Lightweights Eddie Alvarez and Patricky “Pitbull” Freire will receive the main event slot for Bellator 76, according to a release by the promotion.

The event will go down October 12 from Caesars Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The main card will air live on MTV2.

Alvarez (23-3) could be fighting for the final time in Bellator, as his contract expires after the bout. He rebounded from losing the Bellator lightweight title to Michael Chandler by defeating Shinya Aoki earlier this year.

“After hearing Bellator wanted to put this fight together, I really don’t think they could have made a better match up for the fans to enjoy,” Alvarez said. “I’m already in Florida training for this fight, so I’m taking it incredibly seriously.”

Freire (10-3) has reached the finals of a previous Bellator lightweight tournament. He was recently defeated by Lloyd Woodard in a match where he suffered a small fracture in his arm.

“I’m very happy for this fight,” Freire said. “I can’t put into words the emotion I’m feeling thinking about this fight.”

Along with Alvarez-Freire, the quarterfinals of the season seven featherweight tournament are expected to take place on the show.
