Frankie Edgar has been discussed as a potential challenger to the UFC featherweight title for several years. That includes during the time he was wearing the UFC lightweight strap.
Now, after unsuccessfully trying to win the belt back from Benson Henderson, it appears that the 145-pound division is in Edgar’s future.
During a recent appearance on Sherdog’s ‘It’s Time’ radio show with Bruce Buffer, “The Answer” discussed his future.
I’m going to give myself a week to kind of just let all the emotions go away, just relax and enjoy my family and then sit down probably Sunday with my team and everyone else and just start bouncing some ideas around. Forty-five is a possibility. The 145-pound belt is definitely a prestigious belt to go after, especially with Jose Aldo at the helm of it all.
Edgar holds an overall record of 14-3-1 with wins over such fighters as BJ Penn, Gray Maynard and Sean Sherk.
