Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has one objective Saturday night when she faces Sarah Kaufman in the main event of Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman: to defend her title.

Rousey and Kaufman will serve as the main event to the card, which airs on Showtime from San Diego.

“I’m going to try to pound her face into the ground,” said Rousey, during a recent press conference. “And that has nothing to do with whether I like her or respect her. Every single time I come to fight, I pretend as if it is my little sister’s life depending on it and in that kind of situation, nobody can ever beat me.”

Rousey has become the focal point to women’s MMA, appearing on several TV shows and gracing the cover of ESPN The Magazine since winning the belt.

Now, she must defend the title for the first time against Kaufman, a former champion in the division.

“I see Sarah as an opponent and I’ve trained harder for this fight than any other fight before,” Rousey said. “I respect her so much and I’m not taking any chances.”
