UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has a planned title defense scheduled to close out 2012 against Cain Velasquez.

As far as dos Santos is concerned, he would much rather have a fight with Alistair Overeem after the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion made some interesting comments about “Cigano.”

But, Overeem is currently suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission, forcing the UFC to place Velasquez in the title bout with JDS.

“I really told Dana White I’d love to fight Overeem. Beating Overeem, actully,” said dos Santos, in a recent interview with Tatame. “That’s what’s going to happen when this bout actually happens. It would be a pleasure.”

Dos Santos understands the decision to grant Velasquez a rematch, despite the fact that he won the belt from him late in 2011. The loss to dos Santos was the first – and only to date – for Velasquez inside the Octagon, as he defeated Antonio Silva earlier this year.

“I knew Velasquez was the contender, but if UFC wanted me to fight Overeem, I’d gladly shut him up,” dos Santos said. “I’m tired of these guys who think they’re so big, so strong, so bad; that people will get frightened by them.”
