An intriguing middleweight contest has been signed for December, as Chris Weidman and Tim Boetsch will meet at UFC 155.

UFC officials confirmed the fight on Friday between the hopeful title contenders.

Weidman (9-0) scored a thrilling victory over Mark Munoz earlier this year. The former Hofstra University wrestler was hoping to secure a shot at Anderson Silva with the win, but will need to impress once again in the eyes of the UFC brass.

Boetsch (16-4) has scored victories over Yushin Okami and Hector Lombard in his two more recent bouts.

UFC 155 is slated for December 29 from Las Vegas. The card is expected to feature UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos meeting Cain Velasquez, Forrest Griffin taking on Chael Sonnen, and Joe Lauzon meeting Gray Maynard.
