The UFC has announced the next coaches for The Ultimate Fighter, and they are sure to bring some much-needed excitement and spark to the show.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former middleweight contender Chael Sonnen will begin filming duties for TUF later this month, and will meet in April for Jones’ title.

The announcement was first reported by the Los Angeles Times through UFC president Dana White.

The 17th season of TUF will feature middleweights and light heavyweights. After their coaching duties have been completed, the two will prepare to face each other April 27 on pay-per-view.

“This should be a good one,” White said. “Jon has accepted the fight. He knows the fans want to see that fight.”

Jones himself posted a message on Twitter, writing, “Leaving for Vegas in about a week to coach the ultimate fighter TV show.”

The two nearly fought last month, but Jones turned down the short notice fight. That provoked several responses from Sonnen, who was set to meet Forrest Griffin in December. That match is no longer on the docket.

Sonnen will compete for the UFC 205-pound title despite never fighting in the division. He last fought Anderson Silva for the UFC middleweight title earlier this year.

Jones recently made comments concerning a potential TUF coaching gig, but said he would need a “big-name” to oppose him on the show. In Sonnen, he’ll be receiving that and more.
