Randy Couture has retired from active competition, but he remains around the sport of MMA as much as ever.

Couture was a recent guest on Spike TV’s MMA Uncensored Live. “The Natural” was asked his thoughts on Strikeforce, the promotion in which his son, Ryan, currently calls home.

Strikeforce has cancelled two cards and will remain off the airwaves until January. They are planning a super-show to start 2013 on Showtime.

I know the Strikeforce relationship with Zuffa has been rocky. I think you’re going to see the Strikeforce guys absorbed and plucked like they did the WEC.

Couture revealed that the Strikeforce-Showtime contract expires soon and believes “something (will) happen” in regards to the two in early 2013.

For Ryan’s career, Randy has done his best to let him pave his own path. Ryan is 5-1, including three consecutive victories at lightweight.

“It’s really Ryan’s decision. They’re not gonna do any favors in the UFC. Ryan’s right there, knocking on the door with the level of competition (the UFC has to offer at 155). He can do whatever he wants.”
