UFC president Dana White was asked the status of former Ultimate Fighter runner-up Stephan Bonnar during a recent Question & Answer session sponsored by MetroPCS.

White, who credits Bonnar and Forrest Griffin with elevating the sport of MMA and the UFC, was to the point in his response.

“Yes, Bonnar will be retiring now.”

Bonnar (15-8) was recently defeated by Anderson Silva. “The American Psycho” had made a semi-retirement announcement earlier this year, but the opportunity to test his skills against Silva was too much to pass up and he accepted the fight.

Bonnar finishes his UFC career with a record of 8-7, including matches with the likes of Silva, Jon Jones, Mark Coleman, Rashad Evans and Griffin twice.
