If Michael Bisping had his way, he’s likely have already signed a contract to face Vitor Belfort in Brazil.

Bisping, during a recent interview with ESPN, made it known that he does not plan to wait for a potential No. 1 contender match to come about in 2013. Instead, “The Count” wants to get back inside the Octagon as early as January.

I’m not prepared (to wait). This is the way I make a living and I want to fight.

Chris Weidman and Tim Boetsch are scheduled to tangle in late December, and it is possible that the winner of that match is paired with Bisping in a No. 1 contender match. But, Bisping is prepared to put his ranking on the line.

I want to fight somebody else in the mean time. I’ll take my chance. If I win, great; if I lose, I don’t deserve a title shot anyway. I want to fight in January or February. I’d like to fight three or four times a year.

Bisping has won five of his last six, with the lone loss coming to Chael Sonnen via decision. Rumors of a Bisping-Belfort match in January from Brazil were started recently, and even UFC president Dana White said that bout is a possibility.”
