Michael Bisping understands the business aspect of MMA.

Bisping, a former winner of The Ultimate Fighter, is set to collide with Vitor Belfort in January. The winner will put themselves in a strong position to be the next contender at 185 pounds.

“The Count” was also a coach on TUF, and likely would have earned a title shot against Anderson Silva had he defeated Dan Henderson after the show. Bisping also had an opportunity to meet Silva before falling to Chael Sonnen.

The name Sonnen sparks an interesting series of comments from Bisping. The two have plenty of respect for one another, but the Brit does feel a bit upset by Sonnen’s quick title shot at light heavyweight after facing Silva twice – and being defeated both times.

“I can understand it from a business perspective because Chael sells,” said Bisping, in a recent interview with ESPN. “But it’s frustrating because I’ve been waiting my whole career for a title shot, and the guy’s had three out of his last five fights be title fights.”

Bisping did add that he does “understand (the decision) and it’ll be a great season of The Ultimate Fighter.”

Sonnen and Jon Jones, the current UFC 205-pound champion, are currently filming the next season of TUF. They are set to meet in April.
