Many have questioned the use of The Ultimate Fighter in recent years.

However, one former winner believes the reality series helped turn him into a UFC champion.

Rashad Evans, who captured season two of TUF as a heavyweight, went on to become the UFC light heavyweight champion. Currently, “Suga” is set to return to action in 2013 against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 156.

“The Ultimate Fighter is a microcosm of what can happen later on,” said Evans, during a recent appearance on Fuel TV. “I learned so much from being on that show that I carry to this day because it’s like that in so many aspects.”

Evans (17-2-1) was unsuccessful in re-claiming the UFC title earlier this year, dropping a decision to Jon Jones. He also was a former coach on The Ultimate Fighter.
