January will begin a new year for the UFC, and the promotion plans to kick things into gear right off the bat.

UFC on Fox 6 goes down January 26 from the United Center in Chicago, and officials have confirmed seven fights for the evening.

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will headline the card, defending his title for the first time against former Ultimate Fighter winner John Dodson. Johnson won the belt over Joseph Benavidez earlier this year, while Dodson secured his title shot by trumping Jussier Formiga.

In the co-main event, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson squares off with Glover Teixeira. These two were originally set to met in October, but Jackson was forced out with an injury.

Another main card contest will see lightweight rivals Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis finally face off. The two have been trading words for several months as Pettis recovered from a shoulder injury.

Other confirmed bouts include Ricardo Lamas-Erik Koch in a key featherweight war, Clay Guida debuting at 145 pounds vs. Hatsi Hioki, Mike Russow tangling with Shawn Jordan, and T.J. Grant meeting Matt Wiman.

“Chicago is a great fight town and we’re excited to come back to the United Center on January 26,” UFC president Dana White said. “This will be our first big event on Fox for 2013 and we’ve lined up an incredible card.”
