The co-main event for Saturday’s UFC on Fox 5 card between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Alexander Gustafsson will determine the No. 1 contender in the 205-pound division.

“The winner of this fight will get the next shot,” UFC president Dana White said on Thursday. “‘Shogun’ is the gatekeeper to that title. If Alexander beats ‘Shogun,’ he gets that shot. If ‘Shogun’ wins, he gets it.”

Gustafsson (14-1) has picked up five consecutive victories inside the Octagon since a loss to Phil Davis. Rua, meanwhile is 22-5 and a former UFC champion. He defeated Brandon Vera earlier this year.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is currently scheduled to defend his title against Chael Sonnen in April.
