Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir suffered a knee injury in training earlier this year, knocking him out of a planned encounter with Daniel Cormier.

Now, fully-healed up from having his meniscus removed, Mir is ready to return to action, as he told Fuel TV recently.

Through training, I guess I stepped wrong, kinda had the wrong shoes on I think that day. I wasn’t going to skip training and ended up slicing my meniscus on my other leg – that was the good knee – so I just had to go in and have it pulled out. I’m 100-percent healed.

Cormier has since been rescheduled for meeting in January with Dion Staring, but is expected to enter the UFC following the fight. Mir said a match against the former Olympian in the UFC instead of Strikeforce “would be great.”
