Matt Mitrione didn’t turn down a chance to face Roy Nelson, as his coaches told him it would make for a good contest.

Mitrione and Nelson will compete in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale this evening from Las Vegas.

Mitrione, a former NFL player, is looking to rebound from his first professional loss to Chieck Kongo.

“My training coaches and I thought it was a good fight for me,” said Mitrione, on Fuel TV Friday. “I feel that Roy is an interesting fight. He has a lot of power, a lot of ground game, a lot of stamina, and that is where I want to test myself right now.”

Mitrione has been out of action for several months, but said he has “no anxiety about fighting. I am a performer, an athlete and a competitor. I expect to get my hand raised (tonight).”
