Ryan Couture has one of the most familiar names in all of MMA, as he is the son of former UFC champion and Hall of Famer Randy Couture.

However, nothing has been given to the younger Couture upon entering the sport.

Couture will return to action next month at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine against K.J. Noons. The bout is set for Oklahoma City on January 12.

With many feeling as though Strikeforce will fold following the event, Couture is looking to make an impact and hopefully land a spot in the UFC afterwards.

“I regard this as the most important fight of my career,” said Couture, during an interview with Tatame recently. “I like to think that they would take me to the UFC regardless of the outcome, but if I have a dominating performance, they will not have another option.”

Couture (6-1) competes at lightweight, while his father was a former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion.
