Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier would like nothing short of four-to-five fights in 2013.

Cormier will begin the new year in January, taking on Dion Staring at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine.

As a former wrestler, who reached the Olympics, Cormier prefers staying active. He recently told MMA Weekly Radio about his plans for the upcoming year.

I look forward to getting in the cage early January. I’m hoping that I can make my UFC debut around March and if I get through that fight not too hurt, I’d like to fight again in May or June. Then I’ll fight in September and then I’ll fight again at the end of the year. I’m a wrestler, we wrestle every week, so if I can get four-or-five fights, that would be great for me.

That stretch would also hopefully include a bout with ex-UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir. The two were set to meet earlier this year, but Mir suffered an injury in training. Mir has recently said he would take a bout with Cormier, and “DC” appears to be on the same page, as well.
