Alistair Overeem took the first step towards reacquiring his fight license, as a hearing has been set with the Nevada Athletic Commission for January 8 in Las Vegas. MMA Corner confirmed with Keith Kizer of the NAC of the hearing.
Overeem posted late on Twitter Wednesday night that “it’s on” in reference to his co-main event fight with Antonio Silva in February at UFC 156.
Overeem was suspended earlier this year after a failed pre-fight drug test prior to a scheduled match with UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos. Overeem is a former Strikeforce heavyweight champion, and his suspension ended on Thursday.
