Michael Bisping is one victory over Vitor Belfort away from finally securing his shot at becoming the first UFC champion from England.

Bisping and Belfort meet in January at UFC on FX 7 from Brazil. UFC president Dana White confirmed following UFC 155 Saturday night that a win by “The Count” means a meeting with Anderson Silva.

“Yeah, if Bisping wins that fight, he’ll get the next shot,” White said.

Bisping (23-4) is a former winner of The Ultimate Fighter and has had his hand raised in five of his last six fights. The lone loss was a close decision defeat to Chael Sonnen during that span. The other UFC losses by Bisping have come against Rashad Evans, Dan Henderson and Wanderlei Silva.
