Paulo Filho, a former WEC middleweight champion, has signed a multi-fight deal with the World Series of Fighting. News of the signing was confirmed by MMAWeekly.com.

Filho, 34 years old, is coming off a victory over Murilo Rua – the brother of former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

Filho is 23-4-2 in his career, including a win over Joe Doerksen to claim the vacant WEC title. He successfully defended the belt vs. Chael Sonnen in 2007 before falling to Sonnen in 2008 in a non-title bout after missing weight.

The loss to Sonnen was the first of Filho’s career at the time after winning 16 consecutive fights.

No opponent has been named for Filho, but he is expected to compete on the February WSOF card.
