Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir doesn’t like to sit on the sidelines and watch other contenders move past him in the rankings.
Mir, who missed the brunt of 2012 after being forced to undergo surgery while preparing for a meeting with Daniel Cormier, will face the former Olympian at UFC on Fox 7 this April. Mir told MAT in a recent interview that he is feeling 100-percent and anxious to test his skills vs. Cormier.
“I’m feeling very well. I take better care of myself, of my physical fitness,” Mir said. “My rehabilitation is great since I went back to training and now my focus is to win the Cormier fight.”
Mir last fought in early 2012, falling to then-UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos. He knows that the loss knocked him down the pecking order, but added, “After fighting against Cormier, I hope to be able to fight the (Fabricio) Werdums and (Alistair) Overeems that are out there trying to get to the belt.”
