UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones hasn’t been put to the test too often in his MMA career.
One opponent, however, did make Jones work for 25 minutes.
That was former training partner Rashad Evans, who Jones bested last year via decision. The two were close friends while competing together under the watchful eye of Greg Jackson, but Evans departed the camp after Jones won the belt.
With stoppage victories over the likes of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort to his credit, Jones would take a rematch down the road with Evans for one reason only: a finish.
“I’d give Rashad Evans a rematch,” said Jones, during a recent Q&A session with fans. “So I could finish him this time.”
Jones is set to face Chael Sonnen later this year. He is currently a coach with Sonnen on The Ultimate Fighter.
