UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones likely has a few more title defenses on his docket before any move to heavyweight, but that doesn’t mean “Bones” isn’t already pondering the jump in weight classes.

Jones, currently seen as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter, will face Chael Sonnen in April at UFC 159.

If Dan Henderson defeats Lyoto Machida in February, Henderson is expected to earn a shot at Jones. And, Alexander Gustafsson remains a viable contender if he gets past Gegard Mousasi later this year.

Jones, who believes his body will force him to grow into the heavyweight division, recently said, “I think heavyweight is going to come along around 2014. Maybe even later this year. Who knows. It’ll definitely be a fight for the fans.”

Jones has stated his desire to face the likes of UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and former Strikeforce champ Alistair Overeem. Jones and Velasquez were teammates at Iowa Central Community College, where both won NJCAA national titles.
