In a somewhat surprising move, Chael Sonnen actually stated some positive words for his upcoming opponent, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

The two will meet this Saturday night at UFC 159, and despite his typical trash-talking ways, Sonnen let it be known just how impressed he is with “Bones.”

“I am not going to degrade Jon. He is the best the weight class has ever seen,” said Sonnen, during a recent conference call. “Jon Jones could beat up Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali in the same day; you are the best.”

The two were coaches on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter, and Sonnen said that every fighter he talked to looks up to Jones. He also added that he showed up on time every day.

When he was questioned about any added pressure he felt, Sonnen simply said, “if you’ve never done anything in this sport, you are never going to have pressure. Yeah, there is a lot of pressure (facing Jones). He is a tough guy, it will be a tough environment; that’s the sport, that’s what it is. I don’t earn title shots, title shots earn me. The main event comes after me.”
