It’s been a trying period of two-plus years for Alistair Overeem, as the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion has fought just twice since joining the UFC.

Now, after battling a series of injuries, Overeem appears set to return to action this August, according to MMAjunkie.com.

Overeem (36-12) has split his two UFC appearances, besting Brock Lesnar and falling to Antonio Silva. The latter cost him a chance to compete for the UFC heavyweight title, which he earned by defeating Lesnar in his debut.

Nothing has been confirmed by the UFC in regards to Overeem’s appearance at the August card, or an opponent discussed.
