Todd Duffee made the call to step back into the Octagon late in 2012, defeating Phil De Fries.

Duffee, who was released from the promotion following a 1-1 run, is looking to fight again later this year. He recently told Radio he is recovering from an injury, but failed to disclose the nature of that injury.

“I think the closer I hold those cards to my chest, the better is is for myself,” Duffee said. “It’s a long, extensive layoff, but I’ll be better for it in the long run. It’s a good break for my body to fix other injuries, too. But yeah, it’s pretty frustrating.”

Duffee is 8-2 in his career, including a loss to Alistair Overeem. He said he should be cleared in October and is hoping to have a bout scheduled before the calendar year ends.

As for any non-Octagon related issues that were previously linked to his release, Duffee said “I don’t think it matters. I’m back. I’ve got my opportunities ahead of me. I’m not worried about rehashing old things. I’m looking ahead.”
