After initial tweet reports from coach Luiz Dorea that X-rays taken of Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira’s arm after a 2nd round submission loss to Fabricio Werdum earlier this month came up negative of serious injury, it was later clarified that he did in fact suffer some ligament damage.
Now it has been reported by his manager Ed Soares via MMAFighting that after a successful surgery, Minotauro will be out of action for at least three month. “The doctors are saying he will be back training in three months,” said Soares.
After Nogueira verbally tapped to Werdum’s armbar, it was thought that he managed to tap before any serious injury could be inflicted, in fact it almost appeared as if Nogueira tapped out of fear potentially suffering another serious injury rather than the pain. Now it’s clear that Nogueira was not able to say uncle in time to avoid some sort of injury. Thankfully, after undergoing surgery to repair the torn ligaments, fans now have a timeline as to when we’ll see the MMA legend return to action.
