Former UFC lightweight fighter Kamal Shalorus has been in some battles in his short thirteen-fight MMA career. After coming off a year long layoff from action, Shalorus returned to sign with ONE FC and defeated Eduard Folayang by unanimous decision.

Now with his name back in the win column, the “Prince of Persia” has called for a fight with Japanese superstar Shinya Aoki, who carries the ONE FC lightweight title around his waist.

“I would love to fight with Shinya Aoki,” Shalorus told MMAWEEKLY. ” Honestly, I think it’s a good match-up because he’s a grappler, but I’m a wrestler, he cannot take me down and I can strike with him. I competed 16 minutes with Saulo Ribeiro and he couldn’t submit me, so Aoki’s not going to do anything to me. That’s a very good match-up for me; Eduard Folayang is a harder fight for me than Aoki.”

Aoki released a recent tweet (see here) issuing a possible move down to the featherweight class, where he would be one of the larger competitors in that division at 5’11” — so maybe these two can meet for a championship showdown before Aoki makes the move?
