If you thought UFC President Dana White was going to flip out after hearing Anderson Silva repeat his wish to fight Roy Jones Jr. recently on a UFC 162 media call, you would be wrong. In fact, while it doesn’t sound like White really gets why the middleweight champ is so set on battling the storied boxer, he may even be exploring how the fight could be set up.

While speaking to the media today to promote UFC 162, White was asked once again about Silva possibly fighting Jones Jr., and he relayed that the boxer is coming to the fight and that “Roy and I are talking.” Wow. How many people saw that coming? White also added (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“It makes no sense to me. It makes no sense to me. I don’t know why (Silva wants it). It’s like these guys, when they grew up, they had their heroes or whatever their deal is, it’s something they want to do or accomplish. This is something Anderson wants to do.”

While White reportedly didn’t offer much in the way of details, it does seem rather interesting that he’s invited Jones out to “talk”, not long after the proposed match-up has made the internet rounds once again. When the bout was first floated several years ago, White didn’t exactly seem on board.

Of course, next up for Silva is Chris Weidman, who likely isn’t too concerned about how talks between White and Jones Jr. go.
