Rory MacDonald has tried his best to deflect questions about a possible UFC title fight with training partner Georges St-Pierre.

Now, UFC president Dana White is coming to the defense of MacDonald, who some believe has stated he would never fight his Tri Star teammate.

“I don’t think Rory ever said he wouldn’t fight (St-Pierre),” said White, during a conference call earlier this week. “Rory said he doesn’t want to talk about fighting (St-Pierre).”

White, who has called out teammates before for not being willing to square off inside the Octagon, continued, saying, “When that day comes, when he gets to that place, I’m sure that’s when Rory will want to talk about fighting GSP.”

MacDonald is set to return to action vs. Jake Ellenberger next Saturday night at UFC on FOX 8. The winner could make a strong case for a future title fight, as both are on win streaks and highly-ranked.
