Phil Davis is a world-class wrestler, as evident by his spectacular resume put together at Penn State University.

In August, Davis will head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and meet Lyoto Machida in the co-main event of UFC 163.

“Mr. Wonderful” has scored three UFC submission wins, and could position himself in the UFC light heavyweight pecking order with No. 4 over an ex-champion in “The Dragon.”

“My plans is to go to Rio and get another submission win,” said Davis, in a recent pre-fight interview with the UFC. “I know what I’m willing to do to make it happen (in pursuit of a title). Winning against (Machida) will put me up in the contender ranks.”

The 28-year-old Davis is 11-1 in his career, with the lone loss coming to Rashad Evans in early 2012. Including on his MMA win list is current title contender Alexander Gustafsson.
