UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has watched MMA for as long as he can remember.
So, who does “Scarface” believe is the best fighter to ever grace the Octagon – or other cage-constructed ring?
The answer may surprise you, as the Brazilian did not name a fellow countryman.
“Man, I think we all have a list. The No. 1 for me is Fedor Emelianenko,” said Aldo, in an interview with Esporte Interativo. “I’m a big fan of him, the guy is so amazing. In second I put Royce (Gracie), then Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva and then there’s me.”
A pretty interesting list from Aldo, who decided to even include himself in there already.
Aldo will attempt to score another defense of his belt when he meets Chan Sung Jung in August at UFC 163.
The 26-year-old Aldo has won four straight since joining the UFC from the WEC. That includes wins over Frankie Edgar, Chad Mendes and Kenny Florian. He has lost just once, posting a 22-1 record with 13 knockout finishes, in his career.
