Jorge Masvidal is a veteran of the world of MMA.
However, when he was part of Strikeforce, Masvidal was forced to sit and wait for fights to present themselves for far too long.
Now, as a member of the UFC’s lightweight division, Masvidal is preparing for another fight this year, as he meets Mike Chiesa on Saturday night at UFC on FOX 8.
“I’m going to hit a stride in the near future,” said Masvidal, in an interview with UFC.com recently. “When I stay busy, I become a different athlete. When I’m competing three, four times a year, I’m on my game.”
Masvidal (24-7) topped Tim Means this past April, securing his fourth win in his last five games. The lone loss during that time came at the hands of then-Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez.
“I felt like I was eight years old and it was Christmas and I got a bike,” said Masvidal, when he heard he would be competing again so quickly after the Means bout. “I was just excited; I don’t care who the opponent is.”
