John Albert has lost three straight fights inside the Octagon since earning a win in his debut.

Facing the prospects of a fourth consecutive defeat this weekend when he faces Yaotzin Meza at UFC on FOX 8, you would have to feel as if Albert (7-4) is extremely concerned with his job security.

Well, you would be wrong, as he recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio.

“It’s just not who I am as a fighter,” he said. “I fight for one reason: because I love it. I’m not afraid to win, I’m not afraid to lose; and I’m definitely not afraid of greatness.”

Albert made it to the quarterfinal round of the 14th season of The Ultimate Fighter, and will be opening the program vs. Meza in his home state.

“I am afraid of not performing,” Albert continued. “That’s my biggest fear and that’s why I go out there and give it 100-percent so I know I gave it my all.”
