Bantamweights Francisco Rivera and George Roop will meet in an interesting battle at UFC 166.

The bout was made official by the UFC and is added to a stacked card in October from Houston. Rivera-Roop will likely air on the prelims for the night.

Rivera (9-2) is 2-1 in his Octagon career, including a win over Edwin Figueroa after a win vs. Roland Delorme was changed to a no-contest following a failed post-fight drug test.

Roop (14-9-1) has scored key wins over Brian Bowles and Hatsu Hioki in his two more recent fights, pushing his UFC record to 4-5.

While other bouts will be more important and garner headlines, this one could be an early contender for “Fight of the Night.”
