Erik Perez has ran through his first three UFC opponents, scoring two knockouts and a verbal submission since joining the promotion in 2012.
Only an injury in training has been able to slow him down.
Perez returns to action Wednesday at UFC Fight Night 27 against Takeya Mizugaki in Indianapolis. The Jackson’s MMA-trainer fighter has been keeping fans up-to-date on his happenings via a personal blog on UFC.com.
“Over the next few weeks, many fighters at Greg Jackson’s gym will be fighting. Jon Jones and Carlos Condit will headline events, and Clay Guida, Diego Sanchez, (Donald) ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, Frank Mir and Bubba McDaniel have also been getting ready,” Perez posted. “Many of them give me tips and advance. I try to train just as hard as t hey do.”
Perez, who is working to cut down to bantamweight, stated that the fighters feel no added pressure in the gym ahead of time with so many superstars, but “during the week of the fight when we are cutting weight and acclimating to the event city, than there is (pressure) when we are training.”
The fight with Mizugaki has been promoted from the prelims to the main card to complete the six-fight lineup.
