It’s been over four years since Martin Kampmann handed a split decision loss to Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 18, which ended the former WEC welterweight champ’s eight fight win streak and spoiled his UFC debut. Now the two are set to rematch on August 28th at UFC Fight Night 27, and due to the abilities and aggressive approach of each man, there’s no reason to believe Condit-Kampmann II can’t be as exciting as their first encounter.

Recently Kampmann had this to say about the upcoming tilt, as well as his opponent Condit, during an interview with

“I expect a war. I’m preparing for five rounds of tough action. Carlos Condit always brings it and he tries to go in there and finish his opponents and that’s what I do. So, it’s going to be a hell of a fight, it’s going to be action packed.”

“He’s a very complete fighter, you know, he’s very dangerous standing up, he’ll throw unorthodox stuff that can catch people off guard. He’s got a really dangerous guard, dangerous jiu-jitsu, submissions, people are kind of dogging on his wrestling but he just fought two of the best wrestlers in the division, so, I definitely don’t think his wrestling is as bad as people say.”

Considering it’s been a while since their first bout it will be interesting to see how the rematch plays out. It’s an important scrap for both welterweights  as well. Condit is coming off consecutive decision losses to Johny Hendricks and Georges St. Pierre, while Kampmann hasn’t fought since last December, when he was floored by Hendricks in just 46 seconds.

UFC Fight Night 27 will be hosted by the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
