Tonight — The UFC Fight Night 27: Condit vs. Kampmann 2 main card will get started with some Ultimate Fighter (TUF) alumni who are now looking to make a name for themselves in the Octagon. There’s not many other middleweights out there that are on a three fight win streak as Brad Tavares (10-1, 5-1 UFC) has been ever since a close decision loss in 2011. Tavares’ opponent, Bubba McDaniel (21-6, 1-0 UFC) has now shown up on two main cards in just his second UFC appearance, while Tavares will take to the top half of the fight card for the very first time in his 6 fights in the Octagon.

 Tavares vs. McDaniel

Round One:  Tavares opens up early with strong kicks to the leg and body. McDaniel lands one on Tavares and presses him against the cage and Tavares gets free. Both fighters trade punches and kicks and Tavares drops McDaniel with a slick combo. Tavares returns to the kicking attack and damage is evident on McDaniel’s leg and body. Both fighters work for position against the fence and break away. Tavares lands a few more kicks before the round closes.

Round Two: Tavares takes the center and McDaniel looks tentative right away as Tavares is landing damaging kicks. McDaniel presses forward anyway and Tavares makes him pay with a counter left. Tavares again with the forward pressure and McDaniel times a takedown and gets it easily. Tavares manages to make his way to his feet and they restart in the center. Bubba again goes for the trip but Tavares is too fresh to let it happen. Tavares looks to get his own takedown, and McDaniel offers little resistance as Tavares completes it. Tavares stand back up and hovers over Bubba while kicking him in the leg before the ref calls them to stand it back up before the end of the second round.

Round Three: Bubba comes out charging and catches a patient Tavares with a lunging left hand. Tavares clears his head and gets McDaniel on the fence to land some knees. They split and Tavares hits McDaniel low with a grazing kick and the ref steps in for a second. They continue and Bubba seems eager to make something happen as he ducks under for a nice takedown. McDaniel is looking like he wants to win this round more than he’s looking to finish, and Tavares is defending well and retains guard. Bubba moves to half and Tavares looks for a triangle but McDaniel keeps his posture and the round ends with McDaniel on top. Don’t be surprised to see the judges get this one wrong.

Nope! Brad Tavares defeats Bubba McDaniel via unanimous decision
