Welterweights Matt Brown and Tarec Saffiedine are being penciled in for a collision this December.

The exact date of the fight is currently unknown, but the UFC has three cards planned for the final month of the year.

Brown (18-11) has vaulted into title contention on the strength of six consecutive wins. That includes five finishes, the most recent of which came earlier this month over Mike Pyle.

Saffiedine (14-3) was the final Strikeforce welterweight champion after defeating Nate Marquardt. He has been sidelined with injuries since that fight.

FOX Sports first reported the fight, after confirming it with UFC president Dana White.
