Currently, Ben Askren and Josh Barnett do not even compete in the same promotion – yet alone the same weight class.

Askren, the Bellator welterweight champion, is a firm believe in strict drug testing and took offense to the recent “Countdown to UFC 164” program that, in his words, “glanced over the fact Barnett tested positive for 3 banned substances” following his world heavyweight title win vs. Randy Couture.

Barnett is set to make his long-awaited return to the UFC this weekend at UFC 164 vs. Frank Mir.

Askren’s complete Twitter statement read: “Love how the Countdown show glanced over the fact Barnett tested positive for 3 banned substances after Couture fight” adding in the account Vada Testing to his tweet.

As you might expect, Barnett had some choice words for “Funky,” who is a former U.S. Olympic wrestler.

“I won’t even acknowledge VADA,” Barnett wrote. “They’re entirely agenda driven and that agenda is NOT sport.”

Askren chimed back in with “Lol I know it doesn’t matter to you, but I can look at myself in the mirror and be ok with choices. In 20 years you will have a very hard time doing the same.”

Here’s what Barnett replied back:

Barnett was stripped of the UFC title following the failed test, and subsequently left the company.
