Joseph Benavidez wants nothing more than to become a UFC champion.

He isn’t going to do it with his words, though.

Benavidez earned another impressive victory Wednesday night, stopping Jussier Formiga in their main card bout in Brazil at UFC Fight Night 28. With the win, the Team Alpha Male fighter improved to 6-1 in his Octagon

That lone loss was to current flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson in the tournament finale to crown the first-ever titleholder.

So, with his win streak back intact, does Benavidez believe a title shot is in the pocket?

“At the end of the day, I could bark for it, but it’s not up to me,” he said. “Whatever the UFC decides (they decide).”

Johnson successfully defended his belt earlier this year vs. John Moraga, but nothing has been scheduled as for another bout. He did welcome a new baby with his wife just days before the fight.
