Former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza has made a statement in his short time with the UFC, including a recent finish of Yushin Okami in Brazil last week at UFC Fight Night 28.

With the middleweight hierarchy jumbled at the top with champion Chris Weidman, former champ Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort, Souza (19-3) appears to be gathering steam to join that elite list.

However, if the UFC presented him with a fight vs. friend and training partner, Silva, he would have troubles agreeing.
“Anderson is someone I don’t want to fight,” said Souza, during the post-fight press conference. “He’s someone who’s in my camp. He’s my friend, he helps me and I help him.

“I wouldn’t be in good character if I said I wanted to fight him…..but I’m a UFC fighter and I hope the UFC never gives us this fight. I’m ready to fight anyone in the world.”

Souza added that he would be willing to fight “at 205” if that opportunity was presented, as well, to him.
