Former UFC lightweight champions and two-time opponents BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar were announced the next coaches for The Ultimate Fighter Wednesday night on “UFC Tonight.”

The pair will likely begin filming soon, with the 19th season set to air on FOX Sports 1 in April. They will collide for a third time sometime in 2014, like the second quarter of the year.

Edgar is 2-0 vs. Penn, winning the UFC title from him and successfully defending it in an immediate rematch. Since that time, though, “The Answer” has dropped down to featherweight.

Penn, who last fought at welterweight, will move down to 145 pounds for the third encounter with Edgar. He last competed in 2012, falling to Rory MacDonald.

TUF 19 will consist of middleweights and light heavyweights. Tryouts recently took place in Indianapolis.
