Former UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo will face Mark Godbeer later this year at Bellator 101. While not yet made official, it is expected to be part of the season nine heavyweight tournament.

Kongo was released from the UFC earlier this year following a loss to Roy Nelson. He went 11-6-1 in his Octagon career.

Godbeer has been out of action for a year-and-a-half, but is 8-1 in his career. Six of his wins have come via stoppage.

Bellator 101 is set for September 27 from Portland. Along with Kongo-Godbeer, which could be situated into the main event role, the lightweight tournament is scheduled to begin with the likes of Saad Awad, Rich Clementi and Marcus Davis competing.
