It took Glover Teixeira several years to get to the UFC.

Now that he is there, the Brazilian has no interest in sitting around and waiting for guaranteed title shots.

Following his recent win over Ryan Bader, Teixeira (22-2) was called the No. 1 contender to the UFC light heavyweight title. The belt, however, is locked up through September with Jon Jones defending it vs. Alexander Gustafsson.

As we’ve seen before in MMA, rematches are granted at an alarming rate depending on how the bout goes. So, if that were to happen, what would Teixeira do?

“I want to stay busy,” said Teixeira, during a recent appearance on MMAjunkie Radio. “I want to fight (Jones). He’s the bigger name, and he’s been champion for a while.

“If Gustafsson beats this guy, I’ll be happy for him, too, as long as I get to fight him. Or if they have a rematch, I’d like to fight some top contender and keep myself busy. I’m healthy, and I can’t be losing time.”

Teixeira has won all five of his UFC bouts, including the stoppage over Bader recently.
